Child stands next to the first cone (station). Coach feeds the ball to the backhand side. Child hits the backhand – if he makes it inside the court she can move to the next station. By performing this drill child learns how to control the pace and depth of the ball while hitting from different positions.

Objectives: Forehand, Net game, Control, Placement

Coach feeds the ball to the forehand side. Kids hit forehand back to the coach and run to the net. Coach hit the ball back to the backhand side. Kids try to hit backhand volley into the standing hoop. By performing this drill kids work on the net game skills as also have fun because of the challenge.

Objectives: Technique, Control, Placement

Bar is set on the coach’s side. Coach throws balls to the deuce side. Kid hits forehands under the bar. The goal in this exercise is to learn how to hit the balls low over the net and with less spin. By performing this drill kids learn how to be more offensive and how to hit balls with different trajectories.

Objectives: Control, Forehand and Backhand, Placement

4 cones are set. 1 kid rolls the ball with the racquet in cross-court direction. Other kid rolls the ball with the racquet in down the line direction. By performing this drill kids learn to properly position the racquet head while hitting the ball in different directions. This skill enables kids to consciously control the placement of the ball.

Ladder is placed in front of the kid. Kid bounces the ball up. Kid tries to place the ball in each ladder box. By performing this drill kids learn how to control the ball with the racquet so acquiring this skill will help while learning tennis strokes in the future.

Cones of different colors are set. Child hits the ball down and tries to hit the cones with the same colors. If 2 cones are hit child takes them out and tries to hit different color. By performing this drill child learns how to control the ball and make simple decisions.

Objectives: Control

4 Cones are set in the corner of service box with balls on top. Child hits the ball up and tries to hit the cone. If the target is made child takes the ball and puts it in the middle of the service box (building the pyramid). When the pyramid is built of 4 balls child tries to hit the pyramid to win the game. By performing this drill child learns how to control the ball, focus, and fight.

Court is divided into 4 zones. Coach feeds the balls to the forehand side. Child tries to hit each zone and mark it. By performing this drill child improves control, placement, and pace of the shot. All these aspects are crucial to direct the ball into different areas on the court.

Childs compete with each other. Child tries to hit the cone by hitting the ball up with the racquet. If the cone is hit child moves the cone to the opponent’s area. By performing this drill childs learn to compete and perform under pressure.
