Objectives: Placement, Control, Throw and catch

Coach rallies with a child. Coach hits all the balls to the deuce side. Child alternates hitting forehands and throwing the ball back to the coach. By performing this drill child works on sending and receiving skills that are important in all tennis strokes.

– Small cones set the zone on the ad side
– Player stands next to the first cone
– Coach feeds the ball to the player
– Player hits forehand volley down the line
– If the player makes the zone he moves to the next cone (Station)
– If he doesn’t he stays and tries again
– Player repeats this pattern

Coach servers to the ad side. Child catches the ball into the cone and throws it over the net. By performing this drill child learns how to return in tennis so it will have a positive impact in later stages of return development.

– Player steps laterally with left leg on the platform and keeps balance
