Objectives: Placement, Control, Footwork

– Coach feeds the ball to the deuce side
– Player hits forehand volley down the line back to coach
– Coach hits the ball to the ad side
– Player finishes with backhand volley down the line
– The goal of this exercise is to learn how to quickly react at the net and maintain good placement of shots

Objectives: Flexibility, Static stretching, Recovery, Legs

– Player keeps the wide stance while touching the net
– Player keeps the back leg straight and puts all the weight on the front leg by bending the knee
– Player keeps the stretch making sure that the back calf is stretching
– The goal is to stretch the calf to improve flexibility, start recovery process, and stay injury free. This drill should be performed immediately after the practice/match

Objectives: Return and the next shot, Placement, Consistency, Control

– Coach serves wide from ad side
– Player returns cross-court using backhand stroke
– Coach and player rally together in a cross-court direction
– Player can use only backhand strokes after return
– In this drill player works on return’s placement and rally skills. Incorporating serve and return as first shots of the rally is a great way to improve aspects that are needed for successful performances during tournaments

Objectives: Placement, Ball perception, Control, Backhand

Child stands next to the first cone (station). Coach feeds the ball to the backhand side. Child hits the backhand – if he makes it inside the court she can move to the next station. By performing this drill child learns how to control the pace and depth of the ball while hitting from different positions.

– The goal of this drill is to improve reaction and placement of volleys

Watching a tennis match it is clearly visible that the main goal of this sport is to hit the ball over the net, and inside the court. You can win just one point at the time, and each one of them is counted in the same way. It doesn’t matter if you hit a beautiful winner from the baseline or if your opponent made an easy mistake because the result is always the same – one point won.
