Objectives: Control, Backhand, Placement, Spin, Consistency, Serve

Coach rallies with a kid. Coach and player use only backhand strokes to hit cross court shots. If kid hits the target (ball) she is allowed to take the ball from the basket and throw it with a service motion into the cones. – Player lays down on the ground with legs placed on the gymnastic ball
– Player performs regular crunches by lifting only the upper back
– Player tries to maintain balance during the exercise
– Player repeats this pattern

– Player serves from the ad side
– After the serve player runs around the cone
– Coach throws the ball deep to the ad side
– Player quickly moves back and hits defensive backhand
– Player repeats this pattern

– Player takes position with both knees on the ground
– Player stops resistance band with right hand
– Player keeps the band with left hand and moves straight arm back and up
– The goal of this exercise is to strengthen triceps muscles which are crucial especially while serving in tennis

Objectives: Placement, Control, Topspin

Coach throws the balls to the backhand side. Child hits backhand and tries to make the ball over the bar and inside the court. By performing this drill child learns how to apply topspin to the backhand. This skill is important to play consistently at any level of performance.
