– Coach feeds random balls
– Player can use only forehand stroke
– Player hits all the balls deep to the deuce side
– The goal is to learn how to cover the court with forehand and use this stroke to build situational advantage

Objectives: Warm up, Consistency, Control, Footwork, Jumping

– Player stands next to the cone
– Player rallies with a coach
– After each shot player has to run around the cone and jump over it before he hits another ball
– The goal of this exercise is to warm up strokes and lower body. By performing additional physical exercise player has to work hard with lower body from the beginning of the practice and that has a positive impact on tennis strokes

Objectives: Reaction, Backhand, Decisions

– Red and yellow cones are set on the player’s side
– Coach feeds the balls to the ad side
– If the ball is around the red cones (deep) player has to move back and hit higher cross-court shot
– If the ball is around the yellow cones (shorter) player has to move forward and attack it down the line

Objectives: Footwork, Forehand, Weight transfer, Balance

– Player maintains close stance with loading the front leg
– Coach feeds balls close to the player
– Player tries to hit forehands with all the weight put on the front leg
– In this drill player works on learning how to hit with the loaded front leg. This skill is helpful to hit successful half-volleys from the baseline. Additionally player gains more feeling about the balance so he can use it more in the future

– Player hits backhands cross court
– Player repeats this pattern

– Rings are set behind the baseline
– Player stands behind the rings
– Coach feeds the balls to the ad side
– Player has to perform a split step into the rings before he hits the backhand
– The goal is to create a habit to make a split step automatically

– Coach is on the player’s side
– Coach feeds 3 different balls to the deuce side (deep back, side, short forward)
– Player has to move and hit forehand stroke
– In this drill player works on specific footwork skills while hitting forehands from different spots. By performing this drill player learns how to effectively move to different zones and maintain consistent forehand shots
