Objectives: Backhand drive, Placement, Control, Depth

– Coach feeds high ball to the ad side
– Player hits offensive backhand drive to the deuce side and moves to the net
– Coach feeds easy ball to the ad side
– Player finishes with backhand drop volley to the deuce side
– The goal is to learn how to take advantage of high balls using backhand drive and continue to win the point at the net

Objectives: Control, Placement, Ball perception, Reaction

– Player stands on the service line
– Coach feeds high ball
– Player hits overhead into the deuce corner
– Coach feeds another ball into player’s legs to the ad side
– Player hits backhand half-volley short to the deuce side
– The goal is to improve reaction after the overhead and learn how to control the balls that are placed into the legs

Objectives: Footwork, Consistency, Control

– Coach feeds a ball to the forehand side
– Player hits forehand and recovers to the middle
– Player performs 4 jumps up and back over the baseline before he moves to the next shot
– The goal is to challenge the forehand stroke by performing specific physical exercise between the shots. Jumps make legs tired so player learns how to effectively hit the ball while having tired legs

Objectives: Approaching the net, First volley, Serve and the next shot

– Player serves wide from the deuce side
– Coach feeds an easy ball to the backhand side
– Player hits deep backhand down the line approach shot and comes to the net
– Coach feeds another ball to the deuce side
– Player finishes with deep forehand volley cross-court
– The goal of this drill is to learn how to quickly transition to the net and control the first volley.

– The goal of this exercise is to get comfortable with hitting forehands in the air

Objectives: Serve and volley, half-volley, Speed, Placement, Control

– Player serves from the deuce side and sprints forward to the net
– Coach feeds shorter ball into the service box to the deuce side
– Player executes forehand half-volley deep cross-court on the run
– The goal of this exercise is to learn how to play serve and volley pattern. Learning how to hit deep half-volleys on the run is a necessary skill to achieve a good position for the next winning shot

Objectives: Warm up, Consistency, Control, Footwork, Jumping

– Player stands next to the cone
– Player rallies with a coach
– After each shot player has to run around the cone and jump over it before he hits another ball
– The goal of this exercise is to warm up strokes and lower body. By performing additional physical exercise player has to work hard with lower body from the beginning of the practice and that has a positive impact on tennis strokes

– Player hits forehand return inside out
– Player and coach rally using only backhands cross-court
– The goal of this exercise is to implement serving and returning skills before rallies. By starting rally with serve and return drills are similar to the real match conditions so players practice in the environment they are going to compete in

– The goal of this exercise is to control the volley while having less time for reaction
