Throw low rally

 

 

Objectives: Throwing and catching, Control, Coordination, Agility, Ball perception

Kids rally with each other. Kids have to throw the ball over the net and below the bars. By performing this drill kids learn how to control the height of the ball which is really important skill while playing tennis. This exercise can be cooperative (kids rally together) or competitive (kids try to win the point).

Objectives: Defense, Slice, Speed, Agility, Reaction, Footwork, Sliding

– Coach stands on the player’s side
– Coach throw difficult balls in different directions
– Player gets to every ball and hits defensive slice over the net
– The goal of this exercise is to learn how to fight for every ball. Player should try to get all the balls over the net to make the opponent hit another difficult shot

– Player jumps on the left leg
– Player jumps inside the ladder, outside the ladder and to the side
– Coach throws the ball to the player when she jumps inside the ladder
– Player has to jump and catch and the same time and throw the ball back to the coach
– Player repeats this pattern

– Player stands inside the ladder
– Coach throws the ball to the left/right side
– Player moves to the ball using only side steps
– Player catches the ball and throws it back to the coach
– Player repeats this pattern

Objectives: Speed, Control, Endurance, Agility, Placement

– Cones are set close to the net on the ad side
– Coach feeds random balls into 2 service boxes
– Player runs to every ball and uses slice to hit it into the cones
– The goal of this exercise is to learn how to control the ball while running at maximum speed. This ability is especially effective while responding to drop shots

– Player jumps on the ladder with both legs
– Player performs 2 jumps forward and 1 jump backward
– The goal is to improve explosiveness, agility, and coordination

– Cones are set around the player
– Player moves in different directions and crosses the cones with left leg
– The goal is to coordinate the movement and learn how to push from left leg. This motion is helpful while recovering after shots in tennis

– Cones are set behind the player in triangle shape
– Coach stands behind the player
– Player says start and throws the ball up
– Player turns around, runs around the triangle and catches the ball
– Player alternates turns (left and right side)
– Player repeats this pattern
